Asterix competitions
Asterix organizes a number of competitions every year. On this page you can find some information about these competitions. The competitions are all in chronological order from the start of a new calendar year.
The Paarse Boscross is a yearly recurring competition at one of the most beautiful forests of the Netherlands, near the Hut van Mie Pils in Waalre. The cross is organized within the Kempian Cross Competition, and this year also the Brabantse Kampioenschappen Cross is organized. Besides the usual events of a cross country race, also a cross-country-relay is organized, where teams of 4 athletes can compete, as well as a brand new sprintcross of only 680m! This event will take place on 22nd of February 2026! More information can be found on the website!
The Dommelloop is a running event which Asterix organizes each year in the spring. Participants can choose between a 5km, 10km and a 4x2.5km relay. The Dommelloop takes place on the TU/e campus, partially along the river Dommel. The Dommelloop 2026 is set to take place on the 2nd of April! More information can be found on the website.
The Asterix trackmeeting is a yearly recurring evening competition on the track of Eindhoven at Sportpark de Hondsheuvels. It is one of the biggest Trackmeetings of the South of Netherlands. This track competition offers a unique sprinting competition (60-100-200m), a throwing competition (shot-put, javelin, discuss) and separate events. This event will be held on the 6th of June.

This year the NSK Ekiden 2026 is organized by Asterix somewhere in February! The idea is to run a whole marathon in relay form with 6 people. There are prizes for the first men, women and mixed team.
The NK beerchase is a yearly official Dutch national championship in which teams of three athletes compete against each other. Every person runs 200 metres at a time after passing on the baton. Before the baton is passed, a beer should be consumed by the person who takes over the batton. This means that each person runs 5 times a 200 metres and drinks 4 beers. As an alternative you can drink soda, but this does not count for the national championships. This year, the NK Beerchase is after the Asterix Trackmeeting on our on track! The event will take place on somewhere in June.
The pentathlon is the club championship of Asterix. In this competition between members, there ate five events: 100 metres, long jump, shot put, javelin, and 1000 metres. For each event points are awarded according to the standard by World Athletics, and the one with the highest amount of points is the winner. This event is organised by the Home Championship Committee and will take place somewhere in the start of the new academic year. It will be somewhere in September 2025!
Every year during October the Asterix cross takes place. Athletes can choose between the short, middle and long cross, consisting of 1, 2 of 4 laps of 1.9km. The cross takes place in the Eckartse Bos, behind the Karpendonkse plas. This event is organised by the Home Championship Committee and takes place somewhere in autumn. The date of this event will be somewhere in October 2025!
Other competitions
Every year, 8 Dutch Student Athletics Championships are organized. The organization of an event is done by one of the 12 student athletics associations (SAVs). They are guided by the umbrella organization N.S.A.F. ZeuS.
The 8 Dutch Student Championships that take place annually are:
NSK Teams: The first NSK to take place in an academic year. The 12 student cities compete with each other to see which city has the best athletes. Each city has a team where athletes participate in between one and three events, they can earn points with this, the team with the most points wins. The fifth largest NSK in the Netherlands. --> September 2025, Wageningen (Tartlétos)
NSK Road: Athletes compete for the coveted prize: fastest road athlete. Usually there is a choice between 5 or 10 kilometers. --> November 2025, Enschede (Kronos)
NSK Staircase running: Who will be the first to reach the top of a big building? --> December 2025, Nijmegen ('t Haasje)
NSK Cross: Athletes crawl through the mud to become the fastest student running through the forest! --> January 2026, Amsterdam (Aquila)
NSK Indoor:After the GNSK (Groot NSK) and the NSK Rowing, the NSK indoor is the largest NSK in the Netherlands. It is usually organized in the Omnisport in Apeldoorn. --> Februari 2025, Apeldoorn (Phoenix / Tartlétos)
NSK Ekiden: The intention is to run an entire marathon in relay form with 6 people. There are prizes for the first men, women and mixed team.

NSK Meerkamp: The athlete who scores the highest number of points in multiple components combined will take home the first prize in this competition. --> May 2026, ?? (??)
NSK Baan: The academic year ends with the NSK Track, where almost all athletics components can be practiced. It is also the fourth largest NSK in the Netherlands. --> June 2026, ?? (??)
After an NSK, this is often celebrated in a student-like manner. The fun part after every NSK is a permanent tradition, and there are fantastic student parties after the big NSKs. An NSK is only really a success if the traditional Greek 400 takes place after the party.
The Batavierenrace is the biggest relay race in the world, where teams run from Nijmegen to Enschede in 25 stages consisting of 9 women and 16 men. As always, Team Eindhoven fights for the title in the university rankings, and Team Asterix tries their best to place high in the general standings. The Batavierenrace 2026 will be somewhere in May.
Consist of 5 Track & Field races in and around Eindhoven. All of these races are on the friday evening. Asterix often goes to these races with a big group of Gauls. The following races are included in the 2025 season:
- 11 April - Best
- 09 May - Eindhoven
- 30 May - Valkenswaard
- 04 July - Reusel
The national competition is a combination of competitions in which associations compete in teams for the title of best team in their category. Asterix has a team in the 2nd division for both men and women and another team in the 3rd division for men. Dates:
- 18 May: 1st competition
- 01 June: 2nd competition
- 06 July: 3rd competition
In this event, participants will try to brave the Gulberg in Nuenen on an OV bicycle. This brutal climb of 463 meters is a real challenge on a public transport bicycle with only one gear. It is quite an achievement to get to the top. Eternal glory awaits the person who completes this climb the fastest! This event often takes place in September 2025.
A cross country competition of 8 races in athletics region 14 (Kempen) held in the winter. Cross country racing is running in the forrest. You can choose to either doing the short (often between 1.5km and 4km) or long cross (between 6km and 10km). Asterix often goes to these races with a big group of Gauls. The following races are included in the 2025-2026 season:

The NK Cross 2025 takes place on the 29th and 30th of December in Tilburg (Warandeloop). It’s a very cool event where a lot of Gauls will go. Therefore its also a really fun event if you are not a runner. Battle it out on the mighty forest next to the Tilburg University. For more information, check the website of the NK Cross!
The van Lint week is a yearly event organised by the ESSF where you can sign up a team for all kinds of sports, ranging from well-known sports like unihockey and volleyball to more unknown sports like tchoukball, canoepolo and goalball. But sports is not all… There is also plenty of time to go for a drink with your team and meet the other teams, with the Thursday party as the grand ending!
The van Lint week of this year is somewhere in December 2025.
